The chief of police of Talisay City has recommended the relief of his personnel while others will be sent to a retraining program for showing low performance.

This was revealed by Police Regional Office (PRO)- 7 Director Chief Supt. Jose Mario Espino.

He explained that sending the police to a retraining program is not a punishment but for them to be updated with the new procedures in relation to their duties.

This is also a reminder that they should show good performance like reducing crime volume.

“That is the purpose. If you undergo retraining, you go back to your unit after,” Espino said.

He also explained that the relief of Talisay police personnel and sending some of them to a retraining program are part of PRO-7’s internal cleansing. This does not only apply to Talisay City but to all police stations in Region 7.

Espino said he supports the recommendation of Supt. Jayson Villamater but the process will be done in batches.

Villamater, on the other hand, said he still does not have the number of personnel to be relieved or sent to retraining. However, two of his personnel have already requested to go schooling.

PRO-7 has issued a warning to the personnel of Talisay City police to improve their performance and lower the crime rate in the city or they will all be sent to a retraining program.

The Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) has given a 14-day ultimatum to the 73 personnel of Talisay City police to reduce the crime rate and this will lapse on Thursday. Talisay City Mayor Eduardo Gullas also supported the move of CPPO.

This was the result of the survey that Call Center Program Head Nanette Garong conducted to get the view of the agents about the project.

Yesterday, Mayor Tomas Osmeña presented the result of the survey at his press conference.

“I’m happy with this kind of response. I’m very happy because the feasibility is very high,” he said, adding that the survey was conducted to test the idea of putting up a Call Center City at SRP.
