MARJORIE CAMPOAMOR, 21 Pilar

There’s two more days left before judgment day, and whatever the outcome, Marjorie is already more than glad to be part of history as one of 54 candidates in the inaugural Binibining Cebu competition.

“No matter the result, I’m happy and honored to be part of this prestigious pageant,” the third year Tourism Management student says.

Taking part in the grand beauty tilt has transformed her into a better woman and role model to her fellow youth, Marjorie says.

No rookie in the pageant scene, Marjorie boasts a dizzying amount of titles: Binibining Toledo Tourism 2015, Miss Calendar Cebu 2015, Miss Summer Bodies 2017, Miss Masbate first runner-up 2016, Miss Ozamiz Summer Bodies 2016, Miss Talamban first runner-up 2015, Miss Sandugo Festival Queen second runnerup 2017 and Miss Tourism Cebu second runnerup 2017. She was also an official candidate of Miss Bikini Philippines/Slimmers World International 2017.

What made this morena beauty decide to vie for the Binibining Cebu crown? “My purpose in joining this pageant is that I want to sell our place, promote how nice it is to other countries, because as a Tourism student, the province of Cebu is one of the nicest places that tourists should come and visit. I believe that Cebu is a place where you want to escape to from stress and relax,” says Marjorie, who’s into dancing, singing and reading books.

As a tourism major, Marjorie weighs on the call for our country to focus on responsible tourism. “We should be responsible enough in our tourism industry as we are the beneficiary of all the things that will happen in our society or in our country. Selling our own products is good but the better way is to be responsible also by selling our own products and monitoring them as well,” she says.

An aspiring flight attendant, it has always been Marz’s dream to explore the world and experience everything it has to offer.

The daughter of a businesswoman and a seaman, Marjorie is often heard with a “po” littering her sentences – a trait not common among Cebuanos. “As a Cebuana, we adopted that word because it’s a sign of respect which Tagalogs say when talking to an older person,” she

explains.

Selling her municipality, Marjorie invites: “You should visit Pilar, Camotes because it has one of the nicest white sand beaches. Aside from the scenic views, the people of Pilar are very hospitable and industrious.”
