“Rapist” caught in possession of illegal drugs
For trying to evade a security checkpoint, a man suspected to be a serial rapist was arrested after police found illegal drugs and a pistol in his possession yesterday dawn in Barangay Canduman, Mandaue City.
Reil Yamit Ceniza, 37, a resident of Zone 4, Barangay Mantuyong was caught around 1:45 a.m. after a short chase with the responding police, said Police Officer 2 Orvin Seth Felicio of Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) – Station 6.
“Kadiyot ra man nga paggukod, nadakpan dayon,” Felicio said.
Felicio said Ceniza, who was driving a red and white motorcycle, evaded the checkpoint which led police to chase after him. When they searched Ceniza, they found a medium-sized pack of shabu and a loaded 9mm pistol in his possession.
The seized gun contained two live ammunition rounds, according to Felicio.
“RAPIST”?
As to Ceniza being tagged as a rapist, Felicio said that they have received numerous complaints from women.
“Na-identified naman na siya, ug na–identified pud ang iyahang motor nga gigamit kay based sa mga previous blotters nga na record diri sa office, the same description ang gihatag sa mga victims,” Felicio added.
The motorcycle of the suspect has at least three unreadable temporary plate numbers written on a cardboard, which he may have occasionally switched with another plate number in order to conceal his crimes.
Most of Ceniza's victims were call center agents, students, and women working in factories.
“Urongon ni sila sa kadlawon, tiunan og armas,” Felicio said, adding that the suspect also forced them to perform lewd acts in front of him.
Police contacted some of the women who filed rape complaints against Ceniza and they came to the station and positively identified the suspect.
“Karong hapon lang, walo ka biktima ang nianhi sa station. Identified gyud nila nga siya (Ceniza) gyud. Naa pa sad laing biktima padung diri sa station unya para moreklamo,” Felicio said around 2 p.m. yesterday.
Police have yet to find out if the suspect was under the influence of illegal drugs or was drunk when he sexual harassed the women.
Ceniza will be facing complaints for violations against Republic Act (RA) 4136 or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code, RA 10591 otherwise known as illegal possession of firearms, and Section 11 (possession) under RA 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
When asked if the suspect will also be charged with a rape complaint, Felicio said the Women and Children Protection Desk of MCPO-Station 6 has yet to give a decision and will first investigate the matter.
ARRESTED FOR RAPE
In San Fernando, two men were served with standing warrants of arrest for rape by the town's police last Wednesday.
Sabeniano Hermosilla, alias "Ben" 35, a resident of Barangay Sangat is considered the number one most wanted in San Fernando with two standing warrants of arrest for rape against him.
Silvino Sialonggo, alias "Binoy" 21 from Barangay Tinubdan ranked second in the town's most wanted list with one standing warrant of arrest for rape.
The warrants of arrest were issued by Judge Jose Nathaniel S. Andal Regional Trial Court Branch 24.
San Fernando Police Chief Senior Inspector Adrian Nalua said it took two weeks of surveillance operations before the warrants were served. The two are both detained at the town's detention cell for proper disposition.
The operation is part of the Philippine National Police's Oplan Tracker program, an intensified campaign against wanted persons.
