UCPB ATM cards now 100% EMV-ready

-

UCPB and its savings bank arm, UCPB Savings Bank, have officially completed the transition of all its Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) and the replacement of all its ATM cards to the EMV technology, the global standard in card payment security.

This makes the bank fully compliant with Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Circular 859 which mandates all banks to make the big shift to the new technology to provide increased security against card fraud.

“We reinforce our commitment of personal and proactive service to our clients by being 100 percent EMV-ready. This will now provide our clients with a greater sense of security and peace of mind, knowing that the UCPB ATM network — totaling 300 in strategic locations nationwide — has a higher degree of protection against card or online fraud,” says UCPB President and CEO Higinio O. Macadaeg, Jr.

On the other hand, UCPB Savings Bank has replaced its e-Cash cards to EMV-ready cards. The transition to EMV began in 2016 by urging all clients to replace their magnetic stripe ATM cards with the EMVenabled cards. The non-EMV, magstripe-based UCPB ATM cards were deactivated on August 1, 2017. Clients who have not yet claimed their new EMV-enabled UCPB ATM Debit Card may visit their maintaining branch to have their cards replaced free of charge.
