However, the motorists ahead Markjun Abadilla, 27, a resident of Labangon Cebu City, told policemen he was still able to warn them to get out of the way before his car plunged off the cliff.

Police Officer 2 Donard Pitogo, the case investigator, said that it appears Abadilla's white Honda City lost its brakes around 50 meters away from the cliff's edge.

The motorists ahead of Abadilla told the police Abadilla kept honking them before the accident happened.

“Mao na diay to iyang gibuhat kay para dili niya maigo ang mga nauna niya,” said Pitogo.

Just a few seconds later, the motorists saw the car fall off the cliff, coming to rest an estimated 100 meters below.

Pitogo said that Abadilla was still able to get out the wrecked vehicle when they arrived at the area. He appeared to have suffered only bruises and scratches, however he died on the way to the hospital.

Pitogo believes that the victim may have died from internal hemorrhage from the fall.

Abadilla was on his way to a wedding in Balamban when the accidents happened. The place where the accident happened is not far from where a tourist bus carrying Iranian students fell off a cliff in 2010.

A day earlier in the same barangay, a three yearold-girl died after the motorcycle she was on crashed into a van for hire.

Police Officer 1 Andie Mabanta of Balamban police station said the motorcycle driven by the father of the victim, Abondio Manyao, 27, who was heading to Cebu City from Balamban when the accidents happened last Friday afternoon.

His live-in partner was riding behind him while their daughter was seated between him and the handlebars.

Manyao allegedly overtook the vehicle in front of them and intruded into the opposite lane where the v-hire driven by Trifon Tejero was traveling from the opposite direction.

Manyao allegedly lost control of the motorcycle and crashed into the v-hire that was carrying 18 passengers from Cebu City. Mabanta said that the three-year-old was thrown from the motorcycle and killed instantly.

Manyao and his live-in partner only sustained minor injuries and were immediately brought to the hospital. None of the v-hire passengers were injured.

According to Mabanta, the area where the accident happened was a blind curve, which is why they discourage motorists from overtaking in the area.

Tejero immediately surrendered himself to Balamban station after the incident, Mabanta added Tejero and the family of the victim may opt to go for an amicable settlement.
