Mayor Paz Radaza handed the cash reward worth P5,000 to each successful examinees, who are residents of the city.

Jochelle Potot Tumulak, on the other hand, pocketed P40,000 for placing sixth in the naval architect and marine engineering licensure exam.

The City Council recently approved an ordinance giving monetary rewards ranging from P100,000 to P5,000 to the city residents who are board passers.

Radaza said the incentives served as their remuneration for their effort, hard work, and dedication to pass their respective exams.

"This is one way also of encouraging our young and energetic Oponganons to study harder and work for their achievements in life," Radaza posted on her Facebook page.

The board passers earned their bachelor’s degree in education, criminology, physical and occupational therapy, medical technology, nursing, electrical engineering, social work, pharmacy, mechanical engineering, and nutrition and dietetics.

They were the third batch to receive the monetary reward.

During the city’s Taxpayer’s Night at the Hoops Dome last September 6, four topnotchers also received cash incentives.

Vianca Pearl Amores and Marianito Jesus Del Rio, who topped the May 2017 CPA board examination, and Brylle Gilbuena who ranked first in the March 2017 mechanical engineering licensure exam received P100,000 each. Nona Casey Baring, on the other hand, received P80,000 for ranking second in the June 2017 nursing licensure examination.

On the second week of September, another eight placers and passers received their cash gifts ranging from P5,000 to P60,000.
