Global Cebu seeks crucial win vs Ilocos

Global Cebu FC booters seek a crucial victory as they tangle with the Ilocos United FC in the Philippine Football League tonight at the Cebu City Sports Center.

Global Cebu, who is currently at fourth spot with 37 points, knows that a victory against Ilocos United will boost its chance to move up to the final round.

With only five games left in its assignment, Global Cebu FC does not want to waste any opportunity to rack up points.

This is Global Cebu and Ilocos United’s third time facing each other with the first two matches getting in favor of Global. Global also wants to protect its unblemished record playing at its turf.

After this match, Global Cebu will be flying to Ilocos FC’ homecourt in Vigan on November 5.

Ilocos United is already out of contention even if it wins all its remaining games, but the visiting team is still raring for an upset victory over Global FC to end their season with a bang.

Meanwhile, the FC Meralco Manila remained atop the standings in the country’s premier football league with 48 points while Kaya Makati is at second with 47 points as Ceres Negros FC occupied the third place with 42 points.

The Stallions Laguna FC is behind Global Cebu with 31 points with three games left while JPV Marikina is at sixth spot with 28 points. The Davao Aguilas and Ilocos United are the two teams at the bottom with 14 and seven points, respectively.—
