Chief Insp. Mercy Villario, information officer of Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO), said they are looking into the child abuse case filed against members of the family of the victim, PO1Mae Sasing, which was settled later on.

Villario also said they are looking for a clear closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage of the incident because what they have now is blurry.

Sasing was riding her motorcycle (7368-GB) on her way home from Lapu-lapu City where she was assigned when two unidentified men shot her at around 6:30 p.m. while travelling along Cebu North Road in Barangay Basak, Mandaue City.

The attackers fled towards north.

The Philippine Red Cross in Mandaue City responded and rushed Sasing to Chong Hua Hospital where she was declared dead on arrival.

Recovered from the crime scene were three empty shells of a .45 caliber pistol.

Yesterday, Jeralin Sasing Diamada, her sister, said they are all shocked over her death because Sasing has no enemies.

Diamada said she called Sasing's cellphone Tuesday night but a police officer took her call and informed her that Sasing was shot.

Diamada said she often calls Sasing, which has become her daily routine, to know her whereabouts.

The Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) assured to give cash assistance to Sasing's family.

Chief Supt. Jose Mario Espino, PRO7 director, directed the police directors of Mandaue City and LapuLapu City to conduct a thorough investigation and identify the assailants.

“I directed the cops in Mandaue and LapuLapu to trace and arrest the assailants behind the killing of one of our cops,” Espino said.

Sasing's wake will be in their house in Barangay Jugan, Consolacion. She will be laid to rest on Nov. 12 at the Manila Memorial Park in Lilo-an, Cebu.
