They were arrested with the "help" of the dead.

Two men with standing arrest warrants were arrested after visiting their departed loves ones in Dumanjug town.

One of them was a man wanted for rape. According to Senior Inspector Gilfred Baroman, chief of the Dumanjug police, Arnulfo Ferrer, 50, a chicken vendor temporarily residing in Barangay Basak LapuLapu City, had been hiding since 2015 after he allegedly raped a minor in Barangay Camboang, Dumanjug.

Last All Souls Day Ferrer was spotted visiting his departed loved ones in the cemetery in Barangay Looc by one of the assets of the Dumanjug police which led to his arrest.

Baroman said it has been more than a year since they were looking for Ferrer and they reckoned they would be able to use the observance of All Souls Day to their advantage to determine his whereabouts in Dumanjug.

“Nakadawat man mi og reports nga magkawat-kawat ni siya og uli basta naa’y celebration,” said Baroman.

Ferrer was in the top 10 most wanted personality of Dumanjug police. He is now under the custody of Dumanjug police waiting to be presented in court.

A day earlier, a notorious drug pusher with a pending arrested warrant was also arrested in Barangay Kanghumaod, Dumanjug, during All Saints Day after police received a tip he was in the area.

Dioscoro Alburo, 37, a resident of Barangay Langin, Ronda, Cebu has a pending warrant of arrest for visiting a drug den in 2016 during a police operation.

A concerned citizen called the Dumanjug police after the suspect was spotted in the cemetery.

Baroman said that the suspect sensed policemen were coming for him and tried to escape on a motorcycle. However, Alburo met an accident in Barangay Kanghumaod which led to his arrest.

“Maayo gani kay wala ni siya’y dala nga armas kay ang among info nga nakuha ani labot sa suspek kay armado g’yud ni siya ug nibuhi pud og estorya nga dili siya magpadakop og buhi,” said Baroman.

Alburo is now temporarily detained in Dumanjug police waiting for proper turnover.

Meanwhile, two alleged guns for hire were arrested in Barangay Lawaan, Talisay City, yesterday afternoon by the operatives of the Cebu City Police Office Intelligence Branch through a warrant of arrest.

They were identified as Albert “Perot” Padayao, 28; and Junmark Labajo, 25, both residents of Barangay Maghaway-Lawis, Talisay City.

Padayao, who is also allegedly involved in the drug trade and robberies in Cebu City and Talisay City, was found with a pack of suspected shabu and a 9mm cal. revolver with live rounds, while Labajo was found with a .22 cal. pistol.

The Cebu City Police Office is now also trying to determine if the two are involved in riding in tandem robberies.

CIB deputy chief Senior Inspector Narolf Tan said that Padayao is a member of a gun for hire group in Talisay City and is a person of interest in the killing of two men in Barangay Bulacao last year.

Padayao is among the top 10 most wanted personalities in Cebu City and Talisay City according to Tan.
