New PNP clearance office to open soon in city police HQ

-

A new police clearance office is expected to open soon in the new building of the Cebu City Police Office in Camp Sotero Cabahug, Gorordo Avenue, Cebu City.

It will replace the clearance office in the White Gold building by late this month or early December this year and will also introduce new and sophisticated security features in the police clearance.

Yesterday, Emmanuel Galecia Jr., head of Development Bank of the Philippines Data Center, Inc., the service provider of the police clearance office in White Gold, together with CCPO director Senior Superintendent Joel Doria, visited the new office for inspection.

DBP-DCI channel manager Maggi Ortega said that the new police clearances will have new security features not yet introduced in Cebu City, among others. She also said they are planning to use a card system, online application, and verification of clearance.

“Even without the physical copy of that police clearance, pwedeng i-email ‘yun o via SMS. Ma-verify ng applicant,” said Ortega.

Galecia added that the new security features will be able to determine if an applicant has cases in other places. The DCI also assured the public that despite the sophistication of police clearance security features, it will still be affordable to the public.

Meanwhile, Doria said that transferring the police clearance office to the new building in CCPO will be an advantage since they can lessen expenses.

He also said that they are now looking at how to improve the facility since they deal with a lot of applicants every day.

“We have to provide like ‘yung tent. Like ‘yung existing detention cell natin, pwede nating ilipat ‘yun dalhin sa bagong detention facilities. So marami naming paraan,” said Doria. —
