Should Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III sack a Capitol official accused of shenanigans?
GIOVANNI PIERRO C. MALITAO, JR. 24, Reporter
If proven guilty yes. First, the matter should be investigated. The Governor should observe due process. When the probability of the accusation is likely to be true, then dismissing the employee is the right thing to do.
OMAR SHARIF D. MAMALINTA, Government employee
First and foremost, due process of law should be upheld at all times. In the case at hand, our respectable governor in Cebu Province should look into the matter with utmost care and fairness. I came across with the issue through The FREEMAN newspaper. It was initially investigated by the Provincial Women's Commission and both parties were made to see face to face in a closed door meeting at the vice governor's office.

The process of dismissal varies depending on the position of the accused, permanent or confidential. However, technicalities aside, government officials should always be guided to the undying principle in government service, "Public Office is a Public Trust". If the said accusation is true against the said official, the governor should take the necessary action to protect the integrity and the trust bestowed upon the government.
