Scheduled power interrupti­ons start

Starting today and for several days, the Visayan Electric Company will be implementi­ng scheduled power interrupti­ons in different areas of Metro Cebu to allow the repair or upgrading of power lines and similar facilities.

In its advisory, VECO said the interrupti­on will allow them to upgrade facilities or repair damage caused by accidents such as vehicles or falling trees, or natural disasters such as lightning, floods, fires, and earthquake­s.

“The power interrupti­ons are scheduled and done every week, in different areas within our franchise. These are done to maintain, upgrade, and repair our facilities or cater to service requests from customers,” said Quennie Bronce, department manager of VECO’s Reputation Enhancemen­t Department.

Bronce said the scheduled power interrupti­ons in identified areas will be announced at least 48 hours ahead of the repairs as required by the Energy Regulatory Commission.

In the advisory, the power interrupti­on today is for some portions of Barangay Mabolo from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to facilitate upgrading of transforme­rs.

On November 12, some areas in Barangay Banilad, both in Cebu City and Manda City, will have no power from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. to facilitate pole installati­on. On the same day from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. power interrupti­ons is expected in barangays Catarman, Poblacion, Tayud, and Suba in Liloan town.

There are no power interrupti­ons scheduled for November 13.

On November 14 some portions of Cebu City and Mandaue City will be affected. From 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., there will be no power in some areas of Barangay Sambag 2, particular­ly along Urgello Street and adjacent compounds.

From 11 a.m. to noon, there will be no power in some areas of Barangay Sambag 1, particular­ly along P. Del Rosario Street.

A separate power interrupti­on is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in some areas of both barangays, particular­y Tambis and Urgello streets, including the Southweste­rn University Alumni Foundation, Inc.

On the same day, an eight-hour power interrupti­on is scheduled in some areas in barangays Guadalupe and Sapangdaku in Cebu City.

In Barangay Canduman, Mandaue City, the power interrupti­on is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

On November 15, power interrupti­on is expected in some portions of Barangay Labangon from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and some portions of Barangay Talamban from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Finally, on November 16, power interrupti­ons are to be expected in different areas in Cebu City.

From 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., there will be no power in Barangay Zapatera along Sikatuna and Alcohol streets to facilitate replacemen­t of overhead lines.

From 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., another power interrupti­on will be implemente­d in the same barangay, particular­ly along Sikatuna and D. Jakosalem streets, including a portion of Sitio Kaimito to facilitate load balancing.

Power interrupti­on from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. is projected in some portions of Barangay Busay to facilitate the upgrading of transforme­rs.

A three-hour power interrupti­on from 9 a.m. to noon is also expected in Barangay Day-as to allow the removal of a transforme­r.

On the same day, power interrupti­on from 11 a.m. to noon is expected along T. Padilla Street.
