Action -packed rugby football at CIS

The 10th edition of the Cebu 10s Rugby Football Festival unfolds today at the Cebu Internatio­nal School in Barangay Talamban, this city.

The Cebu Dragons are hopeful to break the jinx and win a title in their turf but they are facing a daunting task against other elite squads.

Defending champion Alabang Eagles is gunning for their fifth straight championsh­ip. Other contenders include Manila Harpons, University of Southern Philippine­s, University of San Carlos, Southweste­rn University Phinma and the Lapu-Lapu Jets.

Some foreign squads are also out to showcase their wares like the Australia’s Paddy’s Pensies, Singapore Rhinos and the Shanghai Dolphins.

The tournament follows a single round-robin action with the top two squads per group moving up to the quarterfin­als.

Top four squads in the quarters then proceed to the semifinal round with the top two squads fighting for the title.

Cebu’s junior players will also be out to display their skills in a series of exhibition. —
