GRACE KELLY
In 1929, Her
Serene Highness
Princess Grace of Monaco was born to the rich and influential Kelly family in Philadelphia.
While starring in Hitchcock’s “To Catch a Thief” on the French Riviera the young actress met Monte Carlo’s Prince Rainier, and gave up her career to marry him. Costar Cary Grant was unruffled. “What could she have become?” he asked. “Only an older actress, not a better one.” The former Miss Kelly supports charities, appears on stamps, butters her own toast every morning, and says her happiest moment was when her daughter, Caroline, “took seven small steps towards me before throwing herself into my arms.”
