Women in Naga augment income thru soap making

-

In order to create a self-reliant and source-based community, APO Land & Quarry Corporation (ALQC) recently organized a wash products livelihood project for women in Purok Marmol, Barangay Uling, City of Naga, Cebu.

The wash products processing training involves a hands-on tutorial on how to make bath soap, laundry bar soap, powdered detergent, all-purpose liquid soap, fabric conditioner, and Aloe Vera shampoo.

Around 25 participants from Barangay Uling attended the workshop.

The three-day training was facilitated by Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Trainer Moises Miranda.

According to ALQC community relations officer Marlito Cabigas, the company aims to boost the livelihood capacity and competitiveness of its communities by sponsoring projects such as the wash product processing training.

To help the participants startup their businesses, AL QC provided for the initial materials in their commercial production. AL QC also helped them establish a group to make the program sustainable.

“The women of our purok are now empowered to earn additional income. We can help our families even more, economically," said project participant Normeta Jimenez.

This project is part of the Social Development and Management Program of APO Land & Quarry Corporation.
