Alab gets the upper hand over Gilas in exhibition match

In a battle between two Philippine squads, Alab Pilipinas came out victorious.

Alab, the country’s representa­tive in the upcoming ASEAN Basketball League season, scored a huge 81-76 victory over Gilas Pilipinas in a closed door tune-up game yesterday at the Meralco Gym.

Reggie Okosa led the way with 21 points while Lawrence Domingo and Paolo Javelona scored 12 points apiece for Alab Pilipinas.

The stunning win by Alab was made possible even without ABL Local MVP Ray Parks and their import Ivan Johnson.

For Gilas Pilipinas, Jayson Castro provided firepower with 12 points and reigning PBA MVP June Mar Fajardo chipped in with 10 points.

Other Gilas members in attendance were Gabe Norwood, Matthew Wright, Kiefer Ravena, Roger Pogoy, Troy Rosario, Carly Bryan Cruz, Raymond Almazan, Calvin Abueva, Allein Maliksi, and Kevin Alas.

Alab is currently making its final preparatio­ns leading up to their ABL debut next Sunday, November 19 against defending leaguecham­pions Hong Kong Eastern Sports Club. On the other hand, Gilas is gearing up for their run in the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers which kicks off on November 24 versus Japan.
