Man shot dead by neighbor in Guadalupe

A 35-year-old man was shot dead by his own neighbor in Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City yesterday morning, due to a disagreement.

Rogen Canape, a resident of Barangay Guadalupe, died instantaneously after he was shot four times by his neighbor, Glenn Cardente, 38, a native of Sibonga.

PoliceSeniorInspectorHenryOrbiso,Guadalupepolicechief, said that Canape and Cardente were having a heated argument.

The suspect told police that Canape threatened him which prompted him to shoot the victim first.

"Nibahad daw ni ang victim maong giunhan nalang niya (suspect)," said Orbiso.

Guadalupe police immediately proceeded to the area after receiving reports of a shooting and arrested Cardente.

Orbiso said that Cardente voluntarily surrendered to the responding police and also admit that he killed the victim.

However, the police could not locate the firearm used by the suspect.

Cardente is now detained at the Guadalupe police detention cell and will be charged with murder. —
