Force multipliers tapped in anti-drug campaign

-

The Cebu City Office for Substance Abuse Prevention (COSAP) has emphasized the role of police force multipliers in the anti-illegal drug campaign during a seminar last Saturday hosted by the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) for their community partners in maintaining peace and order.

Speaking in front of force multipliers composed of volunteers from different barangays last Saturday, COSAP Head Garry Lao shared to them their roles and functions not only in the anti-illegal drug campaign but also against all forms of crime.

Lao said COSAP supports all the programs of CCPO despite police having no hold in any anti-illegal drug operations, as per the directive of President Rodrigo Duterte.

"Although ngadto na sa PDEA ang sole responsibility sa anti-illegal drug operations it does not mean that our police are no longer helping in our campaign on anti-illegal drugs. They still can, but on different approach," said Lao.

He also commended the efforts of CCPO in gathering the force multipliers to join their programs.

"Nindot siya kay they are in partnership kay ang among drive is anti-illegal drugs, anticriminalities so kinahanglan nato og intelligence gathering. Kinahanglan ta mag-work together kay we are in the same boat," said Lao.

The CCPO has been holding bimonthly seminars to train force multipliers.

These seminars serve as refresher course among the members as partners of the police in maintaining peace and order in the community, especially with the approaching yuletide season and Sinulog festival.

CCPO has at least 1,000 force multipliers that helps them maintaining peace and order during big events.

For his part, City Intelligence Branch Chief, Christopher Navida said that last Saturday's seminar also served as venue for sharing knowledge between COSAP, police and force multipliers which will lead them towards improving the services they offer to the public.

"Dini-develop lang natin ang mga skills nila (force multipliers)," said Navida. —
