Ex-Negros solon to sue Visayas deputy ombuds

-

Former Negros Oriental representative and his lawyer are planning to file complaints against Deputy Ombudsman for the Visayas Paul Elmer Clemente for alleged grave misconduct and gross neglect of duty.

Congressman Jacinto 'Jing' Paras and lawyer Mariano Luna, in a press conference yesterday, said the complaints will be filed before the Office of the President next week.

The complaints stemmed from the alleged inaction of the Office of the Ombudsman-Visayas to resolve the plunder case filed against incumbent Negros Oriental Representative Jocelyn Limkaichong.

Paras lost to Limkaichong in the May 2016 polls.

Paras claimed that Clemente refused to entertain them when they made a follow up on the case, which was filed by one of his residents in 2013.

He denied that politics was behind his plan to file charges against Clemente.

Aside from Clemente, Paras and Luna will also file an impeachment complaint against Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales on November 20, 2017.

This Thursday, they will also file charges against Senator Antonio Trillanes IV for inciting to sedition and rebellion when the opposition senator “encouraged the military to kill the President” in his privilege speech last October.

Trillanes, in his privilege speech in the Senate last October 3, said that if soldiers would discover the amount of wealth Duterte had allegedly amassed, they might use up all the bullets of an M-60 machine gun.

"I am taking the cudgels because I have to. These are people who obstruct the implementation of the president’s reform agenda," said Paras.

He earlier said Trillanes, one of Duterte’s most vocal critics, committed a criminal act of inciting the military and people to sedition, inciting to rebellion or creating a scenario for coup d’etat.
