Mandaue bizmen assured of better service from LGU
The local government of Mandaue City assured that businessmen and investors in the city will have a good experience in terms of infrastructure and services from government offices.
Mayor Gabriel Luis “Luigi” Quisumbing stressed during the recent Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) investment forum the importance to protect and to support all the businesses and investments and to ensure that infrastructures are supporting the businesses as well as doing away with long government processes.
“We want to make sure that the ease of doing business and the experience of doing business in Mandaue continues to be one of the smoothest in the region if not the country,” Quisumbing said.
MCCI president emeritus Eric Ng Mendoza said that beginning 2018, they expect a more aggressive and more strategic investment promotion for Mandaue City in the light of the organization of the Mandaue Investment Promotion Action Center which he leads.
He thanked Quisumbing for the support given to the business community through the creation of MIPAC.
During the forum, Quisumbing explained some of the plans and programs of his administration that will have an impact to the business sector saying that next year, the city will have the largest single investment in infrastructure.
The city has set aside around P730 million for infrastructure projects in 2018 aside from the P1.5 billion loan from Land Bank of the Philippines to build a new government center.
“Business cannot survive without infrastructure support especially for businesses that we are prioritizing in Mandaue City which is high value manufacturing,” Quisumbing said.
MCCI president Glenn Anthony Soco said the investment forum last Friday came timely as the city’s economy is growing at a rate of 6.9 percent for the third quarter of 2017.
“We are considered as the fastest growing economy of Asia. Likewise, Mandaue City is growing by leaps and bounds making catalyst for growth in and development of Cebu with its growth expanding to the other cities and municipalities of Cebu,” Soco said.
Businessmen of Mandaue City are now investing in Consolacion and Liloan and other localities, he said.
`The Liloan Chamber of Commerce and Industry led by Cebu Port Commissioner Vincent Franco “Duke” Frasco also joined the investment forum.
`“Consistent with our MBM (Mandaue Business Month) theme for this year which is “Moving Forward. Future Ready”, we are holding this forum to propel our City of Mandaue to move forward and prepare for the future. This investment forum represents our desire to expand our frontiers and find new partners,” Soco said.
