Lapu-Lapu City police have called on the taxi driver involved in a road rage incident with a member of City of Lapu-Lapu Allied Force (CLAF) to appear before their office to air his side of the story.

This developed after CLAF member Inocencio Roa, 40, surrendered to Pajo Barangay Captain Junard Chan on Monday.

In a Facebook video that went viral, a visibly enraged Roa could be seen striking the windshield of a taxi on Maximo V. Patalinjug road in Barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City.

Senior Superintendent Rommel Cabagnot, director of LapuLapu City Police Office, yesterday urged the taxi driver to come out to explain his side as part of an ongoing investigation.

“O, mao gyud na’y part sa investigation, kuhaon ang mga sides para makita gyud nimo sa argumento nila kung kinsay tama ug kung kinsay mali,” Cabagnot said.

Roa, a resident of Pajo, admitted he was the person striking the taxi in the video, but in his defense, he said his actions were merely triggered by the taxi speeding off and almost hitting his motorcycle.

Cabagnot assured that the police will consider both sides of the issue first before making any decision, especially when it comes to pressing charges on Roa.

“Makita nato nga sayop kay init og ulo. Sayop, pero di nato ma-discount. Normally ang tawo di man gyud magwala kung walay pinaggalingan, pero sayop gyud to, di ta mag-approach og ingon ato,” he said.

Once the police are finished with the investigation, a report will be furnished to Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza and to the head of CLAF, Basak Barangay Captain Isabelito Darnayla. CLAF is a group of force multipliers in the city.

Earlier, Radaza said Roa’s approach was inappropriate as he could have talked to the taxi driver the right way, instead of “harassing” the latter.

Chan said he advised Roa to discuss the matter with his immediate supervisor, while Roa said he is ready to accept the consequences of his actions.
