Biton died trying to save his wife Remalie, 29, who was being electrocuted because of grounded vigil lights on Friday afternoon, the town police reported.

The couple had a twoyear-old son.

Police investigation disclosed that the couple's son was playing with the curtain behind the casket when the curtain accidentally fell to the ground.

Police Officer 2 Marvin Hubahib of Aloguinsan police said that Remalie saw her son fall with the curtain so she immediately went to rescue. But in the process, she accidentally touched the stand of the vigil lights positioned beside the casket and believed to be grounded.

“Ang vigil lights kay grounded daw. Ang amahan nga nakabantay nga nakuryentihan iyang asawa kay daling mitabang hinungdan nga nakuryentihan pud siya,” said Hubahib.

The husband and his wife were immediately brought to the nearest hospital, but the attending physician declared Relyboy as dead on arrival. Remalie was quickly treated.

“Wala ra man daw naunsa ang asawa. Banhod ra daw iyang kalawasan,” said Hubahib.

The said vigil lights were set up by the funeral parlor staff on Thursday evening, police said.

The funeral parlor insisted, however, that the lights were in good condition at the time they were put up at for the wake.

According to the police, the funeral parlor, nevertheless, assured to shoulder the hospital and burial expenses of the victims.
