The Cebu provincial government has turned over 30 tactical sets and two riot shields to the Cebu Provincial Police Office.

According to the Capitol's official Facebook page, each tactical set includes a Kevlar vest and a Kevlar helmet, all of level four (high level) protection. The gear are bullet-proof, lightweight, and waterproof, among others.

The 30 sets completed the 60 tactical sets requested by CPPO, which already received the initial 30 sets.

Governor Hilario Davide III said the provincial government has always been supportive of the local police, saying the additional protective gears will help them in their operations.

The Capitol led by Davide sponsored the reception dinner of over 300 participants of the Third National Advisory Council Summit Tuesday night, the second of the third police summit in Cebu City.

Davide, in his speech, also stressed the importance of law enforcement agencies and the community to work together.

The summit has a theme, “Strengthening Linkages, Enhancing Partnerships.”

The representatives from the different Regional Advisory Councils nationwide are tackling their plans and programs to achieve the targets of the Patrol Plan 2030.

The patrol plan will highlight the partnership of the Philippine National Police and the community through the Regional Advisory Councils, which is made up of representatives from the business, religious and professional sectors.

The plan aims to guide police in an advisory level in its field work and this will show that civilians will also have a role in helping the police in achieving their jobs.

Chief Superintendent Noel Baraceros, director of the PNP-Center for Police Strategy and Management, has encouraged the community to get involved in police's efforts to help detect and solve crimes.

“One of the requirements is to create a multi-sectoral governance council that will assist us in the implementation of our transformation strategy,” he said.

The council, he said, should be composed of different sectors and stakeholders in the community. He is referring to the religious sector, media, youth, businessmen, senior citizens, and lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) sector.

Moreover, Baraceros said strengthening the linkages between the national, regional, provincial and municipal councils is also among the objectives of the summit.

“We want to establish an alignment so that the national advisory groups will have a good linkage or connection with the local,” he said, adding that everyone during the summit is encouraged to share their programs and best practices that may be worthy of emulation.
