Yaw-Yan fighter Rosauro saves Cebuanos’ day in URCC card

-

Roel 'Akiyama' Rosauro of Yaw-Yan ArDigma became Cebu's saving grace in the 'URCC Fight Night:BETS' fightcard the other night at the Waterfront Airport Hotel and Casino Mactan.

The lone Cebuano winner in the actionpacked show, Rosauro escaped with a three-round split decision over Alexander Aballe of Pagadian City's Yawchedelic MMA.

The 29-year-old Rosauro was aggressor most of the fight, but had a hard time as Aballe utilized his ground fighting expertise to take down the Cebuano warrior.

In the second round, Rosauro tightened his takedown defense as he deftly sprawled his way out and in the process deny his opponent a chance to gain momentum on the ground.

Aballe decided to switch from being a grappler to a brawler in the final round, throwing overhands but only to be the receiving end of Rosauro's vicious body kicks.

It was one out of four for Team Cebu as welterweight Joel 'Watcher' Jabonero and Giovanni Macasling of CALMA MMA-Talisay and Arnel Ylanan of Deftac Vagabond Cebu all suffered crushing defeats.

Jabonero bowed to more experienced Arvin 'Asintado' Chan of Ronin BJJ via arm-lock submission in the first round, Macasling lost by knockout to Ariel Lampacan of Benguet's Submission Sport in just 40 seconds of the opening round, while Ylanan fell prey to Adonis Sevilleno of Yawsa MMA by unanimous verdict.

In a special attraction, former champion Mark Striegl grinded out a unanimous decision victory over South Korean Kim Ki-Sung.

The other results saw Dave Banguingui of Fight Corps clobbering Ariel Olieros of Ronin BJJ, Roque Maha-ay of Catalan Fighting system decisioning Yong Bin Kwon, and Lucky Mateo of Fight Corps knocking out Charles Sayson.—
