No contraband found in greyhound operation

-

Authorities did not find any contraband inside the Danao City Jail during the surprise greyhound operation conducted by the operatives of the Danao Police Station and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)–7early morning yesterday.

Danao Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Chief Richard Tulabing said that the result of the greyhound operation is a product of their strict implementation of the rules among the detainees and the visitors.

In the last greyhound operation conducted in the facility last October, several sharp objects were recovered that included several cutter, scissors, fork, can opener, tablespoons, lighters, belts, matches and playing cards.

Danao City Police Chief Gerard Ace Pelare said that the result of not having any contraband found during the greyhound operation means that the Danao City Jail has been manned properly with appropriate measures against the possible sneaking of contrabands inside.

“We believe that Danao City BJMP has instituted appropriate measures,” Pelare told The FREEMAN.

Operatives of the Danao Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), Danao City Bureau of Jail Management and Penology and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) also supported in the greyhound operation.

The Danao City Jail has 692 male inmates and 93 females.

Tulabing said that they are doing their best to ensure that there are no more contrabands sneaked inside the facility.

He added that they conduct their own internal greyhound operation three times a week just to ensure no illegal items are smuggled inside.

“Maingon nato nga limpyo ug walay illegal nga nakasulod sa atong city jail nga mao gyod ang among gipaningkamotan ang zero contraband,” said Tulabing.

He added that they are also eyeing at becoming a drug-free and a no-smoking facility.

To assure the public and the community that the Danao City BJMP is serious in its campaign and vision, Tulabing said that all of their personnel had undergone a surprise drug test where all tested negative.

“Gusto namo nga mamahimong drug-free facility maong mas maayo nga unahon ang mga personnel nga nagdumala, mapakita nga seryoso kita,” Tulabing added.
