Group orients parents on entrepreneurship
Parents and beneficiaries of the KA•T•ON Barangay Junior Public High School Tutorial Program with Entrepreneurship Exposure in Barangay Cogon- Ramos, Cebu City were briefed about the program by the organizers recently.
Ma. Elena T. Cayetano, Councilor of Barangay Cogon - Ramos, asserts that the KA•T•ON Barangay Junior Public High School Tutorial Program with Entrepreneurship Exposure is a substantial help to the youth of her barangay.
“As a mother, I only want what is best for my kids. This free tutorial program relieves parents and our barangay from having to pay for tutors to assist our kids with their lessons in school,” Cayetano said.
The councilor also expressed gratitude for being one of the pioneer barangays chosen this 2017 along with Barangay Luz, Barangay Apas, and Barangay Guadalupe in Cebu City, and Barangay Centro in Mandaue City. Cayetano says, “Among so many barangays here in Cebu, we are very fortunate to have been chosen as one of the first barangays to be part of this project.”
Last November 18, Barangay Impact Visayas Management and Support Services, the company that designed the KA•T•ON Barangay Junior Public High School Tutorial Program with Entrepreneurship Exposure, discussed with the parents and beneficiaries about the program’s objectives and mechanics.
The program is designed to immediately arrest the alarming 57 percent dropout rate in the public schools by motivating public high school students to stay in school.
In every barangay, the free tutorial program engages 40 junior public high school students in each cycle, which is equivalent to one grading period in the public schools, and one summer cycle.
“I believe in this program, and in its objective so much that I knew it should be given the value and the attention it deserves," Cayetano said.
