Catch a bus ride at daytime – CSBT

Commuters heading to the southern part of Cebu for the holidays are advised to do so earlier in the day to avoid getting caught in the influx of passengers at the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) during nighttime.

Joey Herrera, terminal manager, also advised the riding public that the last trip at the terminal is only at 10 p.m. while the first trip is at 1 a.m. Buses bound for Negros are an exception since they are still allowed to operate round-the-clock.

Despite this arrangement, he assured the public that the terminal is open 24 hours. The commuters, he said, should also expect long queues as passengers flock to the terminal.

Herrera said he made this announcement so that commuters will be preconditioned that they cannot get on a ride home quickly, especially if they arrive later in the evening.

“Gipagawas na namo aron mosayo-sayo og anha sa terminal ang mga pasahero ug ma-precondition sila nga they’ll have to wait longer considering the volume of the passengers,” he said.

Based on CSBT management estimates, the terminal makes up to 700 bus trips in a day, which is about up to 40 percent more than the usual number of trips during normal days.

Considering the volume of the passengers and the available buses, the terminal manager predicts that there will be fewer buses around 9 p.m. He said that while the 10 p.m. deadline has been set for bus rides, terminal operations will still continue 24/7.

“But if naay moabot nga bus beyond 10 p.m. and mo-okay ang driver nga mobiyahe, okay ra pud,” Herrera told The FREEMAN.

On another note, passengers are also advised not to bring firecrackers, bladed tools, and butane since these are prohibited at the terminal.

Open bag policy will also be observed so commuters are urged not to pack their luggage with multiple layers of masking tapes.
