Gullas to raffle off stalls in new Tabunok market
Talisay City Mayor Eduardo Gullas said he will raffle the stalls at the new Tabunok Public Market to give all vendors equal opportunity and avoid favoritism.
Gullas said that through the raffle system everyone will have the chance of getting the stalls at the front. He said that market stalls located at the front area are more accessible to customers.
"Gusto ko even mao nang i -raffle. To me it would be the best kay by chance. Everyone will have an even chance," Gullas said.
He admitted that there might be complaints later on how the stalls are distributed but he still believes that raffle is the best option.
"Dili kalikayan human as we are, moentra ang closeness. Dili sad kalikayan kay ang market officers dugay na, duna gyud silay special relationship, lisud kaayo, it would be best nga raffle gyud," he said.
Gullas earlier promised that no vendors will be left behind in the distribution of stalls at the new public market as soon as the construction is completed. He also promised that the vendors will be allowed to return to their old location.
However, he said there were new vendors who applied, prompting him to decide to use the raffle system in the distribution of the stalls to give everyone a fair chance.
Gullas also admitted receiving complaints from the vendors that some market officers are giving undue advantage to their relatives and friends. Members of the Tabunok Public Market Vendors Association (TAPUMAVA) were also worried about favoritism in the distribution.
