2 foreigners ‘robbed’ in Cebu City

-

Two British nationals lost at least P75,000 cash inside their hotel room in Cebu City after a drinking session with three gay men whom they just met.

Craig Andrese, 37, reported the alleged robbery incident to the police after his $1,500 (P75,000) inside his bag were stolen.

Andrese said the incident happened at around 1:30 a.m. on December 27 in a hotel in midtown Cebu City.

But the victims only discovered the incident after the suspects left. He told the police that the suspects wore women dress and long hair. At first, Andrese said they did not know the suspects were gay.

Senior Police Officer 1 Noel Barrida said though the victims have doubts if the gay men were really the ones who stole their money since they did not notice something odd in their actions.

But based on the surveillance footages, no one entered the victims’ hotel room except them and their three visitors.

The Theft and Robbery Section of the Cebu City Police Office is currently pursuing an investigation to trace the suspects who could possibly be charged with theft.

The police sought the help of the hotel staff and asked for the images of the suspects as recorded by the closed-circuit television camera.
