PRO-7 boosts campaign vs illegal firecrackers
The Police Regional Office-7 is now intensifying the campaign against the use of illegal firecrackers to avoid untoward incidents in the New Year.
The Department of Health has reported that at least 13 persons were hurt by firecrackers, while one was hit by stray bullet last Christmas in Central Visayas.
PRO-7 spokesperson Police Superintendent Reyman Tolentin said they are closely monitoring the areas where there have been numerous reports of firecracker injuries last year and in previous years.
“Ang atong mga kapulisan, although half nila kay on break, we designated people to man the particular areas katong based on statistics nga daghan ang nabiktima sa pabuto. It is now the initiative of the station commanders to monitor these areas nga before nga daghan og biktima sa pabuto,” said Tolentin.
He also said station commanders will be subject for relief if there will be any reported victims of stray bullets and firecrackers in their area of responsibility and fail to resolve the cases in 24 hours.
“Kung naa'y nabiktima sa firearm especially during New Year it will cause the relief of the station commander kung dili masulbad within 24 hours. Ang kapulisan gimanduan nga ning umaabot nga New Year og naa'y mga incidents ilaha gyud gilayon ning sulbaron. Challenge ni sa mga station commanders,” Tolentin said.
He also warned police not to be involved in indiscriminate firing during the New Year for they will not be exempted from investigation.
During Christmas, a retired police officer was apprehended in Lower RD PC Hills, Apas, Cebu City for indiscriminate firing.
“Kung naa'y police nga magpabuto, they will be subject for investigation immediately,” said Tolentin.
