Cebu City has invited President Rodrigo Duterte and Vice President Maria Leonor Robredo to next month’s Sinulog Festival.

Councilor David Tumulak, deputy mayor for police matters, said Malacañang received the invitation last week.

“We were informed that Malacañang is already asking for the details of the Grand Parade. It would be an honor for us to celebrate the best festival with the leaders of the country,” Tumulak told The FREEMAN.

He said the city also invited other national political leaders to the event, which the city targets to be more organized, secured, and more technical.

The invitees have yet to confirm attendance but the police here are prepared to implement security plans and contingency measures.

“Aside nga normal na nato nga i-invite atong mga presidente ug other leaders, gusto namong ipakita how significant Sinulog is,” he said.

Tumulak also wants to remind the public that Mayor Tomas Osmeña has signed Executive Order No. 30, an order regulating business establishments and vendors during the Sinulog.

The EO imposes an entertainment ban within the 300-meter radius of the Sinulog Parade and Procession route on January 19, January 20, and January 21.

Among the activities banned within the 300-meter radius are concerts, shows, performances, gigs, events, street parties, and others that will require putting up or using loud speakers and other sound devices.

Establishments outside the radius may host, organize, and conduct events provided they get a permit from the city.

Selling and drinking of intoxicating drinks are also prohibited within the 300-meter radius of the Grand Parade route from 6 a.m. of January 21 to 6 a.m. of January 22.
