A totally re-energized home in 2018

- By Ardian Letaba jmhafen.com

It’s been just a week into the year and for sure it’s time to fill the home with good vibes and positive energy. Living space can sometimes feel stagnant after a while. The beginning of the

year is a good time to re-charge and re-invigorate

the home environment.

It’s obvious why the home needs re-energizing. The environment in the home affects the house occupants. Surroundings that feel too familiar, too the same, can bring about some kind of ennui. It can be boring to some – even depressing to others.

To maintain a feeling of aliveness in the home, the house residents need to fill it with a vibe that allows them to ‘keep in touch with their goals and their hearts’ desires’. The home environment can do a lot for the inspirational direction of home members. Good vibes start in the home.

Zoe Weiner shares, at www.wellandgood.com, tips on how to clear out the home of the negative remnants of the past year and to make 2018 a most positively energized year:

CLEAR THE AIR.

If you’re not already on board with smudging (or burning materials such as sage or palo santo to do away with negative energy or bring about positive energy), January is as good a time as ever to give it a go. Burn sandalwood to ground the space, or burn pine to uplift the space.

If not, bring some fresh flowers into your home instead. When you have fresh flowers in the room, these can absorb negative energy; plants help oxygenate the home. Also, anything that can be added to create meaning and life force to the home atmosphere is key.

GET THE ENERGY MOVING.

If feeling the itch to redecorate, the furniture may be moved around to create space where energy can flow through it, and get rid of anything that doesn’t feel good in the home. Also, using the Komari method on home furniture and ditching anything that doesn’t have a ‘good feeling’ can help.

START DIFFUSING.

Sight isn’t the only sense that influences the energy in your home. Smell does as well. Purchase a diffuser and use lavender, some lemon, or pine for an additional uplifting of spirit for everybody at home. In the cold months, amber creates a very supportive energy, just as anything in the evergreen family does.

GO FOR HOMEMADE.

There’s no place like home… or in this case, homemade. For home, go for art or handmade crafts from people you know, locals you love, or house-to-house peddlers. Let the things you see in your home remind you of love, connection, memories, and the work of human hands.

DO CERTAIN CRAFTS.

Not only can do-it-yourself crafting be an excellent form of self-care, but it can also help make your home feel more you. Make something for your home, paint it, weave it, design it. Add love, add care, and create something that expresses a part of you. Better yet, involve every family member. Also, give it an intention. By creating a physical representation of a goal, everyone can remind themselves where they want to be heading in the year ahead.
