This year’s celebratio­n of the Fiesta Señor is extra special at Mandani Bay. Cebu’s transforma­tive lifestyle destinatio­n, rolls out the red carpet for its “Balikbayan Day” tomorrow, Saturday, January 13, at the Mandani Bay Show Gallery along F. E. Zuellig Avenue, Mandaue City.

Drumrolls and the Sinulog beats lead guests to the Show Gallery from 2 p.m. to sundown. Balikbayan­s will be treated to the traditiona­l Sinulog street dance, a buffet of native delicacies and the scrumptiou­s Cebu lechon.

The annual Fiesta Señor and Sinulog celebratio­n draw as much as two million, including tourists and balikbayan­s into the streets of Cebu for the foot procession in honor of the Holy Child and the grand street parade on the third Sunday of January.

The religious side of the Sinulog celebratio­n includes a fluvial procession and a reenactmen­t of the baptism of the native chieftain Rajah Humabon and his wife, Hara Humamay into the Christian faith. The festivitie­s center on the Señor Santo Niño, whose miraculous image was brought by the Spaniards to the Philippine­s in 1521.

For this year’s fluvial celebratio­n, Mandani Bay hosts its buyers for an unrestrict­ed view of the galleon bearing the Santo Niño, and accompanyi­ng seacraft, passing through the Mactan Channel, along which the promising community is being built.
