Cebu Marathon to set new Guinness World Record

Cebu Executive Runners Club will try to achieve a Guinness World Record for the most number of runners who will blow whistle during the Cebu Marathon 2018 this Sunday at the Cebu Business Park.

CERC’s Joel Juarez said all the runners will be given a whistle upon their check-in on race day wherein all of them will blow their whistle in unison in the tune of “Prititit”, a made-up tune by Cebuanos which is commonly heard during Sinulog festival.

“This is something that will give the participants more fun as they race and something that will make them feel the festive vibe of the upcoming Sinulog. We have a lot of spectacles prepared for them and this is one thing they will look forward too,” said Juarez.

CERC president Kenneth Casquejo added that they will document the event and will submit all necessary requirements so that it will be recognized by Guinness.

Meanwhile, Juarez clarified that there are finisher’s shirt and medals that will be given to the runners as they finish the race.

“We received complaints in the social media that there is no finisher’s shirt and medal but we want to clear that there is. We will automatically give their finisher’s medal upon they reach the finish line while they can claim their finisher shirt in our assigned booth right after,” Juarez said.—
