-

Last December 9, VECO celebrated its annual Pasko sa Kabataan at the Zapatera Elementary School in Cebu City.

Over 80 VECO Kaibigans volunteered to be Ates and Kuyas to around 100 school children during the power utility’s Christmas outreach program. The beneficiaries, aged 8 and below, were treated to a fun-filled day that entertained both the kids and the kids at heart. Game booths and food carts with cotton candy, french fries, popcorn, hotdog and ice cream kept the volunteers and beneficiaries busy.

For the participants to feel the Yuletide spirit, VECO Kaibigans, together with their assigned kids, competed in a caroling contest. A magician and the mascots also made the party more exciting. After a sumptuous lunch, the kids were given a Christmas gift and a new pair of slippers.

Since 2010, VECO has been celebrating its annual Pasko sa Kabataan as a way of giving back to the less fortunate children of its host communities.

Meanwhile, last December 15, the VECO Occupational Safety, Security, Health and Environment Department (OSSHED) team shared their blessings to the children at the Pulangbato Daycare Center in Barangay Pulangbato, a mountain barangay in Cebu City.

After winning a P50,000 CSR activity package from the Reputation Enhancement Department for a sustainability contest, the OSSHED team, headed by Engr. Benje Retuertas, decided to spend their winnings and their time with the 48 children of the Pulangbato Daycare Center, who are under the care of teacher-in-charge Angelita Damaulao.

The children were all smiles as they received school materials, educational toys and special gifts from the team.Asimple salo-salo capped the activity to make sure that the children go home “busog at masaya.”
