Trust in the Lord; God is in control

-

There are times in our life wherein the challenges that we are confronted with are too overwhelming. We ask ourselves whether God hear our prayer. In line with this thought, I want to share with you the experience of Tabby in the book Living Water 2012, “It is in times of trials when our faith is tested,” a preacher once said. I just nodded in agreement. Soon after hearing that, I did not expect to practice my faith to the max!

Last year, our family went through those testing moments. My father had a heart attack. What we thought was just a mild attack proved us all wrong. It led to various complications. Suddenly, my world shook. All I could cling to were God’s promises. I remember praying loudly, “Lord, be in control. Lord, help us, increase our faith!”

Thanks to the power of telecommunications, a prayer brigade started like wildfire. We were so overwhelmed with the support from family, community and friends. My dad received the best medical care possible. He remarkably improved daily that led the doctors to finally decide to discharge him from the hospital after 24 days. However, the day before the discharge, he again had an attack that finally brought him to his heavenly home…A year has passed and the Lord is still answering my prayers. He is helping us. He is increasing our faith. He is turning our mourning into dancing.

I believe that if our faith is anchored on a solid ground and we trust our Lord that He is in control of everything, then I’m sure our burden will be light. Let us be assured on what Matthew proclaimed, “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.”

www.beliefnet.com declares, “…One of the best ways to rid yourself of the fear that is plaguing you is to turn to Scripture. Here are some Bible verses that remind us God is in control:

•Isaiah 41:10 - “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” “..On reason why God wants us against fear is that it can short-circuit the answered prayers and blessings that He has in store for us.”

•Philippians 4:6-7 – “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” …The lesson from this passage is timeless and can affect anyone. The life of faith is filled with constant challenge to risk more to become our true selves.

•Psalm 46:1 - “God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble.” …There is no situation we will ever face that is out of God’s control, so the best place to be always, is right with Him.

•Psalm 94:19 - “When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.” What this Psalm tells us is that even in rough or desperate situations, we can be filled with the joy of the Lord. He is our consolation and His Word easies anxiety like nothing else can. God can bring to your soul even during times when you’re most anxious by simply knowing that He’s present and trusting His power.
