Power Mac Center bares rules for iPhone battery replacement
After Apple admitted slowing old iPhones with aging batteries last month, Power Mac Center (PMC), Apple's authorized service provider in the Philippines, released a statement with a set of guidelines of iPhone battery replacements.
PMC is offering battery replacements for at least P1,500 for eligible units whose warranties has run out. The P1,500 is inclusive of labor, but PMC says the price may adjust depending on importation costs, the statement said.
They set strict protocols before proceeding to replace batteries, the statement said with iPhone devices required to undergo a diagnosis "to check the battery condition and other internal and external physical/accidental damage or unauthorized modification that may or may not be visible to the naked eye."
"If such issues are found, the iPhone will be ineligible for the battery replacement," Power Mac said.
Additionally, the statement also said that PMC's Apple certified engineer can also recommend a part or unit replacement if hardware issues have been found.
The customers may choose whether or not to proceed with the recommendation, and if they decide to pull out their unit, the customer will still have to settle the diagnostic fee.
The battery replacement service announcement has been made two weeks ago and the service provider said they have already successfully replaced 150 iPhone batteries of their customers.
