What can you say about Mayor Tomas Osmeña’s plan to impound for 30 days vehicles whose drivers

are caught counterflowing? I think the mayor’s plan is understandable considering that the traffic in Cebu nowadays is gradually getting worse. Traffic alone causes “road-rage” incidents, how much more if we add in counterflowing. Perhaps if this passes as an EO, then it could deter drivers from doing so which will hopefully lessen these incidents and keep the traffic in order.

As a driver, I am happy that finally these heedless motorists will get a taste of their own medicine. These so called minor offenses have been the cause of some if not most of our road accidents. This law has been there for so long, however, we lack the will to strictly implement it. From now on, they can no longer justify their negligence. Thanks to Mayor Osmeña who never fails to surprise me, now discipline with a capital D in the road should be in tact.

I definitely agree and support this. Strict and well implemented ordinances are needed in order to discipline drivers most especially motorcycle drivers (who often practice counterflowing) here in the city. In this manner, I am pretty sure that it will be very effective as long as the implementation is consistent. Would also suggest that drivers should respect the pedestrian lane.
