SHS-B 1985, Binibining Cebu help Ormoc quake victims

-

“To be a man for others.” This is the inspiration for the Sacred Heart School for Boys Batch 1985 to create a foundation. It is for this same reason that Binibining Cebu 2017 was conceptualized by the foundation. Since the conclusion of the pageant, the emphasis to support charitable events, projects and institutions that provide assistance and ease the difficulties and suffering of a great number of people have not shifted.

Last December 9, candidates of Binibining Cebu 2017 headed by Bin ib in ing Ce bu 2017 Apri el Smith, Bin ib in ing Ce bu 2017 Tourism Samantha Ashley Lo, and Binibining Cebu 2017 2nd runner up Kathleen Mae Lendio, travelled to Ormoc City to visit the makeshift tent houses in the evacuation centers of Barangay Gaas, Milagro, and Lake Danao, three mountain barangays in the city which were greatly destructed by the 6.5 magnitude earthquake that hit the city to distribute bundles of joy to 1,000 affected families in the areas.

Along with the ladies were the Sacred Heart School for Boys Batch 1985 Foundation, Inc. represented by the president for both the SHS-B 1985 Foundation, Inc. and Bb. Sugbu Charity Foundation, Inc. Kenneth Lim, Bb. Cebu Project Chairperson Raymond Tio, RDC VII Co-chairperson and world-renowned furniture designer Kenneth Cobonpue, Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas led by Presidential Assistant Michael Dino, and volunteer artists forArtabang 2, an art auction and exhibit organized by the foundation for the benefit of those affected by the recent earthquake.

The Local Government Unit of Ormoc City also received P1M cash donation from the group for the city’s rehabilitation projects.

On December 10, the group proceeded to Tacloban City to witness the turnover of six Ceres Liners buses of Vallacar Transit Inc. to the Local Government Unit of Tacloban City represented by Hon. Cristina Romualdez. These buses were lent by VTI to the LGU as free shuttle buses for housing beneficiaries in Tacloban North Resettlement Villages, especially children who had to travel to distant schools. When Tacloban LGU intimated their wish to purchase the buses, VTI decided to donate these to the government for the people’s continuous benefit.

In line with Bb. Sugbu Charity Foundation, Inc.’s vision of promoting Cebuano beauty, culture and heritage and SHS-B Batch 1985 Foundation, Inc.’s mission of providing help to those in need, various tourism initiatives and more charity works are being planned out by the group.
