Four suspects in the killing of Air Force sergeant Mark Herbert Oberes who are at large have been sued for murder.

The four are Edna Cabañog, the mother of Oberes’ exgirlfriend, a certain Tommy Isugan, and two unidentified others.

Last week, Cabañog’s daughter, Resamie, and the latter’s current boyfriend, Joshua Garciano, were also charged with the same offense.

Resamie and Garciano have both denied any hand in the killing and pointed to Cabañog as the one who allegedly hired Isugan and the two other suspects to hurt Oberes.

Cabañog allegedly did not like that her daughter was in a relationship with Oberes who was a married man.

The sergeant was mauled and shot in Talisay City before he was brought to Carcar City in his own car and burned while still inside his vehicle.

This all allegedly happened after Oberes met with Resamie and Garciano in Talisay in Wednesday last week, the reason for which remains disputed by parties in the case.

Resamie and Garciano are detained at the police detention cell in Talisay City. They await the decision of the court on their plea to turn into state witnesses and testify against the four other suspects.

Oberes' family has told the media that the sergeant received threats allegedly from Garciano before he was killed. Garciano allegedly did not want Oberes to continue seeing Resamie.

MANHUNT

Talisay Police Station chief Marlu Conag said manhunt is ongoing to arrest the suspects at large.

He said they have already coordinated with the provincial police in Negros Oriental after receiving reports the four are in the island.

The directive came from no less than the provincial police office.

"Continue the hot pursuit tayo at monitor the suspect para mabigyan ng katarungan," said CPPO Director Edgar Alan Okubo.

Cabañog has reportedly sent fillers to surrender but no final word was given until yesterday

"May nag-circulate na mag-surrender ang babae but, as of this time, wala pa. Our intel operatives and BINs are working to locate them," reads part of the text message NOPPO Director Edwin Portento sent to The FREEMAN.

Supt. Reyman Tolentin, spokesperson of PRO-7, said the Special Action Force (SAF), Mobile Force Company (MFC), and Armed Forces of the Philippines Central Command (AFPCentCom) are helping locate the four suspects.

“Atoang intelligence community didto, ato na gipalukop with the coordination of the barangay officials. Hopefully, kun masigpatan og madakpan, then they will deliver this personnel to the concerned authorities,” Tolentin said.

Guihulngan town in Negros Oriental is considered as a hotspot for the New People's Army (NPA), the group in which Isugan is confirmed to be a member.

“We have been monitoring the whereabouts of the suspects. Reportedly, niadto sila sa Guihulnagn… moving ang atoang suspects from one place to another,” Tolentin said.

“There are reports na NPA siya (Cabañog) but pag-check nato sa background, only links; wala pa siya'y kaso na reported nga NPA siya nga member… kaso, si Tomas, naa siya kaso in 2013 and 17 years old at that time… siya ang confirmed member sa NPA,” Tolentin said.
