- Q. Moradas/GAN — Ermida

Talisay City Police Station Chief Marlu Conag said they will look into the reports of alleged rampant drag racing along the Cebu South Coastal Road in Barangay Cansojong, Talisay City that causes traffic at night.

Last Saturday, a concerned citizen reported to The FREEMAN about the drag racing happening in the area wherein the participants would stop vehicles from passing through while there is an ongoing drag race.

Conag confirmed that they also received reports from the community regarding the drag racing that mostly happened during Saturdays.

However, upon their arrival at the area, racers would scamper away.

"Kinausap ko dito mga pulis ko na i-monitor maigi iyon. Meron daw diyan pag Saturday pero mabibilis sila pag andiyan na ang mobile ay mabilis sila nakaka sibat," part of the text message sent by Conag to The FREEMAN.

He said they will also coordinate with the adjacent police stations to intensify the monitoring of these individuals involved in drag racing.

"Bawal talaga iyan ang drag racing, lalo na sa highway at nakakaabala sila sa ibang motorista," Conag said.

Meanwhile, Cebu Provincial Police Office Director Edgar Alan Okubo said that he will direct the chief of police to check the municipal ordinances regarding drag racing and if there is any stipulation on the arrest of drag racers.

"Kung nakakabalahaw sila sa traffic and sa community, I will direct to stop the drag racing," said Okubo.

He also said that he will direct the Talisay Police Station to deploy police visibility in the area to stop any drag racing plans by the racers.
