4Ps beneficiaries train on entrepreneurship
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VII trained Pantawid Pamilya partner-beneficiaries on how to manage and operate a business via the Entrepreneurship Development Training (EDT) in partnership with the Tagbilaran City Government and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
Seventy-six Pantawid Pamilya partner-beneficiaries from Barangay Booy, Tagbilaran City, were trained in preparation for their upcoming livelihood project funded by the DSWD through the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) to help alleviate their socio economic condition.
Pantawid Pamilya Social Welfare Officer (SWO) III Ma. Charo Poligrates said the training aims to help the beneficiaries become real entrepreneurs and not just a fly by night merchants.
“Social preparation is the most important and integral part of doing and implementing a project. That’s why, before the actual business operation, participants must be socially, mentally and emotionally prepared,” said Poligrates.
The training was divided into morning and afternoon sessions and each participant listened to the lecture and embraced the new knowledge imparted to them by the resource speakers from DTI.
There was also a group dynamic activity on sharing of ideas and concept about the discussions and afterwards each group presented their outputs.
Due to the success of the EDT, the training was also replicated to other barangay associations like Manga, Ubujan and Mansasa.
According to Riza Pandan, “EDT helped us to gain knowledge for us to be ready to engage in business like how to market the products and how to deal with customers in order to succeed.”
“Moreover, we were taught on strategies that will help keep us from bankruptcy. And most importantly we were taught about savings,” Riza added.
