56 fall in Oplan Pokemon

-

Cebu City police continued operations against all forms of criminalities have resulted in the arrest of 56 persons in the latest weekly roundup dubbed as Oplan Pokemon.

Chief Inspector Christopher Navida, chief of the City Intelligence Branch, said P311,000 worth of illegal drugs were seized during the 56th weekly roundup.

Unlike in the previous months, he said, the arrests in the city dwindled due to the administration's strong campaign against drugs and criminalities.

“Lumiliit na ang number of arrests and drugs confiscated unlike before na kilo-kilo,” he said.

He said though new drug players have joined the illegal business.

Meanwhile, five newly-identified drug personalities were arrested in separate buy-bust operations in Barangays Guinsay, Looc, and Poblacion in Danao City Tuesday.

Police recovered 28 small sachets of shabu worth P18,290 from Lovely Lawrea Penas, Dennis Dumao-o Espinosa, Lemuel Capitan Garro, Andro Sabas Mangas, and Malvin Bado Mangas Jr.

Also seized was cash amounting to P1,350, believed to be proceeds from illegal drug activities.

All suspects are now detained at the Danao police lock-up facility pending the filing of charges against them for violating the Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

CHARGED

The Cebu City Prosecutor's Office has indicted a 39-year-old man for possession of illegal drugs.

Prosecutor III Alex Gabud has found evidence to charge Frankie Manonsong, a resident of Sitio Biking Alaska, Barangay Mambaling in Cebu City, for violating Section 11, Article 11 of RA 9165 before the court.

Gabud recommended P200,000 in bail for his temporary liberty.

In an inquest proceeding, Manonsong decided not to file a counter-affidavit and instead manifested to face the case in court.

In their joint-affidavit, Senior Police Officer 1 Norman Años and Police Officer 3 Ryan Perez said they responded to the call of Manonsong’s brother, Rogelio, who claimed Frankie tried to kill him on January 25 this year.

Rogelio said his brother tried to stab him with a knife after he refused to give him money.

The police officers arrested Frankie near Rogelio’s auto surplus shop in Banawa, Guadalupe, Cebu City.

But during the conduct of the body search, the policemen recovered one small sachet of shabu from Frankie.
