Gullas: Speed up buying police cars
Talisay City Mayor Eduardo Gullas has instructed the General Services Office to fast track the documents needed to purchase two cars intended for the city’s police station.
Last year Gullas promised to provide two patrol cars and one unmarked vehicle to the police.
During the city’s charter day celebration last January 12, Gullas turned over four motorcycles worth P87,900 each and one unmarked car which cost around P800,000 to the city police.
Gullas expects robbery incidents in the city to lessen with the additional patrol cars that will be turned over soon.
Superintendent Marlu Conag, Talisay City police chief, said that out of four vehicles only three are operational while one is under repair.
Last Tuesday the law office of former Vice Mayor Romeo Villarante was robbed. The office vault was broken into and a laptop and cash worth 15,000 were taken by the burglars.
It was the eleventh burglary recorded in the city within this year.
Gullas called the incident victimizing Villarante, his political opponent, “embarrassing.”
“Embarrassing pa kaayo nga ang kontra nga vice mayor gilungkab. Ang ako initial reaction was to send a letter of apology. Ako gitawag dayon si Conag nga do something about it maikog ko abi pa lang nga di akong kauban sa pundok mao’y nabiktima. Kuana ninyo nga madali masulbad,” Gullas said.
