Motorists from Cebu City who will pass Ouano Avenue in Mandaue City are advised to take an alternate road on Tuesday and Wednesday.

This as the Department of Public Works and Highways-7 will implement a rerouting dry run in preparation for the repair works on the avenue.

DPWH-7 Director Ador Canlas has called on motorists to bear with the heavy traffic along this road as the agency will start concreting the area in March.

Before the actual road works, however, a two-day traffic dry run is set for February 27-28.

Of the 1.9-kilometer Ouano Avenue, only about 640 meters will be closed to vehicle traffic to undergo repairs.

The 640 meters of the threelane road (Phase One) runs from South Seas Cargo Forwarders Inc., Peri-Peri Charcoal and Sauce Bar, KTM Cebu, Cafe Racer, Kampo Grill and Bar and Shell Station.

Canlas said the road concreting in this area will be done within two to three months.

“After the two days nga dry run, we will see if there are no glitches or no need of further adjustments. After which, the actual road concreting will start on the first week of March,” he said.

The concreting of the Ouano Avenue will be done for about a year and divided into six phases.

Canlas said the project costs P169 million, and starts from Mahiga Creek down to the junction of Parkmall.

“All vehicles have to take alternate route at Zuellig Avenue in Mandaue City,” Canlas said in an advisory to the media.
