Almost P800T drugs seized in buy-bust, Oplan Pokemon
Almost P400,000 worth of suspected shabu was seized from two alleged bigtime drug pushers in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City Wednesday evening by the operatives of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) - 7 during buy-bust operation.
Leia Albiar, spokesperson of PDEA – 7, identified the arrested suspects as Pauline Marie Palad, 19, and Ruel R. Carpela, 19, both residents of the place.
Palad was the subject of the operation. She is the girlfriend of Alfiel Chu who was arrested last February 8 in Camotes Island for having in his possession almost P3 million worth of shabu.
On the other hand, Carpela is Chu's cousin.
PDEA learned of Palad and Carpela's involvement in the illegal drug trade after Chu's arrest.
During last Wednesday's operation, PDEA seized six packs of suspected shabu with an estimated weight of 75 grams worth P375,000.
Albiar said based on their monitoring, Palad and Carpela sell drugs in huge volume.
The suspects have been monitored for three weeks.
Albiar alleged that the suspects get their supply from the New Bilibid Prison.
Most of the time, their transactions are done through text messaging and money remittance.
Palad and Carpela are now detained in the PDEA - 7 lock up cell and will be charged for the violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
DRUG CHARGES
Meanwhile, a 15-yearold boy is facing charges before the court for alleged possession of drugs.
PO3 Raydale Sardual and two other police officers of Carbon Police Station alleged that while they were conducting their regular patrol at 5:10 p.m. on February 6, 2018 on Leon Kilat St. in Barangay Kalubihan, they saw a woman running and shouting for help.
They disembarked from their patrol car and approached the woman, who was crying. They were told that her cellphone worth P10,999 was snatched by a boy who was later identified as the accused.
They ran after the boy and arrested him. The cellphone was recovered and the police also seized one small pack of white powder believed to be shabu.
During the inquest proceeding, the boy told Prosecutor II Genevieve Tabada-Lawas that he will not undergo a preliminary investigation and he will just face the case in court.
Lawas, with the approval of City Prosecutor Liceria Lofranco-Rabillas, recommended for the filing of a case in court and recommended P200,000 as bail.
On the other hand, the Cebu City Police Office 91 persons during its 58th Oplan Pokemon which covers from 1 a.m. Wednesday up to noon yesterday.
Of the 91 arrested persons, 82 are male and nine are female.
Thirty-seven were arrested for illegal drugs, 29 for illegal gambling related, 11 have pending warrants of arrest, two for robbery,three for violating a city ordinance, one for malicious mischief, two for violation of RA9287 or the act increasing the penalties for illegal numbers games, for for possession of bladed weapon, three for illegal possession of firearms, one for physical injury and one for child abuse and violation of the act protecting women and children from violence.
Evidence recovered include 40.19 grams of drugs with an estimated value of more than P 474,000, one .45 caliber pistol, three .35 caliber handgun and nine moli-moli machines.
Police Chief Inspector Christopher L. Navida, chief of City Intelligence Branch, said that they are strengthening their campaign against illegal gambling.
