Alleged robber found dead outside home in Carmen

- — Ermida

An alleged notorious robber was found dead Wednesday morning with gunshot wounds in Barangay Catukong, Carmen, Cebu.

The body of Albino Divinagracia, 28, was positively identified by barangay officials, who also held him responsible for a series of petty robbery incidents in their barangay.

Divinagracia, who was shot in the arm and the chest, was found dead by his neighbors and the barangay captain just several meters outside his house.

Chief Inspector Christian Torres, Carmen police chief, said that the body was found Wednesday morning, but the residents told them they heard gunshots on Tuesday evening.

Torres also said it was possible Divinagracia survived the shooting but later bled to death because several blood traces on the walls of his house seem to indicate he still tried to escape after being shot.

He also said that aside from the victim's involvement in several robberies in their barangay, he was also a drug surrenderer in July 2016 and underwent drug rehabilitation. However, he did not graduate from the program after testing positive during a drug test.

"Naa siya'y mga blotter diri sa station pero dili sad lagi mo-file og kaso ang moreklamo kay ginagmay ra man," Torres said.

He added that to sustain his vice, the victim allegedly took anything he could from different households in their barangay. He ended up living alone in the house after his family left him.

"Nibalik siya sa iyang bisyo unya para maka-compensate kay mangawat na lang bisa'g unsa sa mga panimalay bisa'g mga tanom o gani kaldero basta mabaligya unya ipalit og drugs. Og magkalisud kay mutira na sad ni siya og rugby. Gibiyaan na sad ni siya sa iyang igsuon ug inahan tungod sa iyang bisyo og pagkakawatan," Torres said.

Torres said that they are more inclined to believe the motive behind the victim's killing was his involvement in robbery, not illegal drugs. However, there are no suspects yet.

"Wala pa g'yud ta'y suspect kay wala may nakakita sa panghitabo wala sab og nakakita nga naa'y laing tawo nga niadto didto dapita o bisa'g sakyanan," Torres said.
