Bogo’s P80M terminal to start serving on March 8

-

Starting March 8, the new transport terminal of Bogo City will start its operations after it was finally turned over by a sponsoring company to the local government unit (LGU).

Before that day, buses will continue to use the old terminal at the Public Market.

The construction of the new terminal was sponsored by Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC). When the construction finished in February, RLC officially turned-over the terminal to the city government of Bogo City.

The LGU will be managing the facility which has an approximate area of 3,000 square meters and is within the 10-hectare property owned by RLC in Bogo City's new business district.

It is located in Sitio Buac, Barangay Cayang.

Bogo Mayor Carlo Martinez said that the terminal serves as a symbol of a long-lasting partnership with RLC, a private sector.

“I am very proud to say that this terminal came at zero cost to the LGU. This is heartily given by Robinsons Land to the City of Bogo,” he added.

The construction of the new terminal is expected to decongest traffic in the city proper making it safer for school children to cross the streets.

At least P80-million was invested by RLC for the modern transport terminal which has seven bays for buses and 14 bays for vans-for-hire.

“This is just the start of more projects that Robinsons Land will undertake which shows the company’s trust and commitment to the City of Bogo in contribution to the city’s dynamic economic growth,” said RLC Regional Operations Manager Floramie Adolfo.

It has an air-conditioned passenger waiting area, clean washrooms for men, women, and people with disabilities, as well as a terminal office and an array of food cart choices.

“This is the first project we are undertaking but soon we will have a mall. It’s gonna be a mixed-used development,” Adolfo added.

Bogo City is a city known for its sugarcane produce. It is a center for education, banking, trade and commerce in northern Cebu.

Aside from the terminal, the city is also a recipient of a P230-million hospital building and facilities, a project of the Senate and the provincial government.

The construction of the city's provincial hospital is still ongoing.
