A graduate from a Cebu university ranked fourth in the recently-concluded board examination for mechanical engineer conducted across the nation.

Wenilito Fabroa from the University of Cebu registered a rating of 87.55 percent.

UC president Augusto Go said Fabroa, according to the dean, is not an honor student but is known to be a bright one.

Go, who was elated by the news, said the department of the mechanical engineering has been known to produce topnotchers.

"I am always glad when we have a topnotcher. I am always proud of the mechanical engineering department. It seems that every year, the department keeps on producing topnotchers," he said in a phone interview with The FREEMAN yesterday.

He promised that Fabroa will receive cash while the instructor will also be given credit.

Fabroa was among the 1,983 examinees who took the Mechanical Engineer Licensure Examination on February.

Of the total number of the examinees, at least 933 passed the test, according to the released results from Professional Regulation Commission on March 2.

The result showed that Batangas State University-Alangilan was the lone school to top the examination among other institutions with a 99.15 percent passing rate.
