Osmeña also bought overpriced tire clamp?

Few days after he accused his predecessor of overpriced procurement of tire clamps, at least two opposition councilors have also accused Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña of doing the same.

Councilor Raymond Alvin Garcia posted on facebook, a document showing Osmeña bought at least one unit of Denver Boots clamp at P45,000 in 2006.

“Nabuking na ni atong mayor. Mas taas pa gani iyang palit sa clamps pag 2006! Kinsa’y kurakot karon?” read Garcia’s post.

According to Garcia, the property ledger card he posted was authentic because it came from the Department of General Services.

“Although, there is no signature, fact is it was purchased during the time of Mayor Tom (2006) and we all know that all purchases in the city cannot be made without the mayor’s approval,” he added.

Councilor Jocelyn Pesquera said the document proves that Osmeña made an overpriced procurement in 2006. “That’s just to prove that during his administration, he was buying clamps at P 45, 000 each,” Pesquera said.

She urged Osmeña, who earlier accused former mayor Michael Rama, of buying overpriced tire clamps, to answer the allegation.

“If there’s overpricing, so both Mike and his administration will have to answer for it,” Pesquera told The FREEMAN. She said the constituents of the city should know the truth about it.

Osmeña denied the allegation, saying the opposition has accused him of something with “no real proof.”

“So when Mr. Rama buys 100 clamps for P 4.5M from a ghost supplier in Surigao it’s justified, but when he accuses me (with no real proof) of buying ONE clamp of the SAME BRAND dili lang ko kurakot, mas kurakot pa jud?” read Osmeña’s post on Facebook.

Osmeña claimed he has nothing to hide and is willing to answer the accusation.

"The document they showed was for the purchase of ONE clamp not ONE CLAMPS as they alleged. If they knew that our purchase of ONE clamp was overpriced, why did they buy a HUNDRED overpriced clamps? " Osmeña said.
